eScience 2019 welcomes the international community of researchers and software engineers from all disciplines to present and discuss their scientific practices involving data science and computing. The half-day workshop Platform-driven e-infrastructure innovations (EINFRA) invites Exascale projects and use cases to join. This workshop is a follow up of the eScience 2018 workshop in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Addressing emerging grand challenges in scientific research, health, engineering or global consumer services necessitates dramatic increases in responsive supercomputing and extreme data capacities.
PROCESS – PROviding Computing solutions for ExaScalechallengeS – as a collaborative research and innovation EU project offers solutions for these challenges. With an adaptable service prototype, PROCESS will provide a scalable and easy-to-use ecosystem for different disciplines and scientific areas. The distributed services connect several storage and computing sites across Europe and enable efficient inter-centre computations.
The main goal of this workshop is to bring different approaches together and discuss commonalities and differences among these Exascale projects and use cases. Therefore, the workshop invites projects, which deal with extreme data or computing challenges to submit their innovations. The different approaches will benefit from joint discussions. From this workshop we expect also new collaborations among project and use case owners to generate a benefit for several communities which rely on solving the challenges of future e-infrastructures.
Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Exascale Data Services and Architectures
- Future Compute- and Data-Infrastructures
- Workflow submission platforms
- Extreme Data Use Cases and Applications

Venue
The 15th eScience Conference will be held in San Diego, California in the United States of America from September 24 – 27, 2019. The conference will take place at the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa (3999 Mission Blvd, San Diego, CA 92109).
In addition, this year, eScience is co-located with the Gateways conference. The two conferences will offer a shared keynote, presentations about mutually interesting topics, and a shared evening reception, as well as opportunities for mingling during the breaks. Conference attendees will have the option to register for one or both conferences, in full or in part. These two audiences share interests, content, and culture, and we will announce further details of our collaboration in 2019. This is an opportunity to attend both events!
