Call for Papers EGOV-CeDEM-EPART 2018!
The EGOV-CeDEM-ePart 2018 represents the merge of the IFIP WG 8.5 Electronic Government (EGOV), the IFIP WG 8.5 IFIP Electronic Participation (ePart) and the Conference for E-Democracy and Open Government Conference (CeDEM). The conference is held annually, and will be hosted 3-5 September 2018 at the Danube University Krems in Austria.
The conference focuses on e-Government, Open Government, eParticipation and e-Democracy, but on several other related topics too, such as the role of social media, digital transformation in society, Artificial Intelligence, policy informations, smart governance and social innovation. Several different types of submissions can be made, such as completed research, but also ongoing research, reflections&viewpoints, posters, workshops. The conference organises a PhD Colloquium and offers a limited number of PhD bursaries.
We invite individuals from academic and applied backgrounds as well as from business, public authorities, NGOs, NPOs and education institutions to submit their research papers, reflections, posters as well as practitioner papers, panel or workshop proposals to the topics addressed in the tracks. We also welcome interdisciplinary approaches to the conference topics.
Tracks at EGOV-CeDEM-EPART 2018
General E-Government & Open Government Track: all e-government-related topics except the special-topics tracks. In particular, it also covers emerging and special topics in e-government research (Track Chairs: Marijn Janssen, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands; Reinhard Riedl, Bern University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland; Hans Jochen Scholl, University of Washington, USA).
General E-Democracy & eParticipation Track: all eParticipation-related topics except the special-topic tracks. This track aims to present the best of recent developments in electronic participation and electronic democracy as they cover a wide range of technical, political and social areas (Track Chairs: Peter Parycek, Fraunhofer Fokus, Germany&Danube-University Krems, Austria; Efthimios Tambouris, University of Macedonia, Greece; Robert Krimmer, Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia).
Smart Governance (Government, Cities & Regions) Track: all aspects of smart governance, including frameworks, policies, and the use of technology (Olivier Glassey, Université de Lausanne, Switzerland; Karin Axelsson, Linköping University, Sweden; Morten Meyerhoff Nielsen, Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia; Manuel Pedro Rodríguez Bolívar, University of Granada, Spain).
AI, Data Analytics, & Automated Decision Making Track: welcomes research examining the potential, adoption, use, and impacts of various data analytics methods ranging from visualisations and descriptive statistical analyses to machine learning and AI methods in the public sector (Evangelos Kalampokis, University of Macedonia, Greece; Habin Lee, Brunel University London, United Kingdom; Vasilis Peristeras, International Hellenic University, Greece).
Digital Collaboration and Social Media Track: Digital networking and information sharing applications, interfaces between governments and their respective publics, digital collaborations within public organizations and across governance networks, studies that draw on conceptual, case study, survey, mixed or other suitable methods (Panos Panagiotopoulos, Queen Mary University of London, United Kingdom; Mauri Kaipainen, Södertörn University, Sweden; Ida Lindgren, Linköping University, Sweden).
Policy Modeling and Policy Informatics Track: focuses on supporting public policy-making with innovative ICTs involving relevant stakeholders. The scope ranges from policy analysis and conceptual modeling to programming and visualization of simulation models (Yannis Charalabidis, National Technical University, Greece; Theresa A. Pardo, University at Albany, USA; Noella Edelmann, Danube University Krems, Austria).
Social Innovation Track: focuses on the intersection between research, practice, and policy related to social innovation (Gianluca Misuraca, European Commission, Spain; Christopher Tucci, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland)
Open Data, Linked Data & Semantic Web Track: focuses on open government data, public big data sharing and use, data for improving public value and data analytics capitalizing mainly on Linked Open Data and other Semantic Web Technologies (Efthimios Tambouris, University of Macedonia, Greece; Anneke Zuiderwijk, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands; Ramon Gil-Garcia, University at Albany, USA).
Practitioners’ Track: practitioners are encouraged to provide long abstracts of forthcoming papers, summaries of workshop proceedings, descriptions of project outputs, work experiences, inspiring case studies and best practice examples (Francesco Molinari, Politecnico di Milano, Italy; Peter Reichstädter, Austrian Parliament).
PhD Colloquium: he overall aim of the PhD colloquium is to connect PhD students to the e-government research community. During the colloquium, you will meet other PhD students, younger researchers that have just finished their PhDs, and more experienced scholars (Anneke Zuiderwijk, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands; Gabriela Viale Pereira, Danube University Krems, Austria), Ida Lindgren, Linköping University, Sweden; Ramon Gil-Garcia, University at Albany, USA).
