We are currently editing an imminent publication titled "Deep Learning Applications in Medical Image Segmentation" which will be published by Wiley-IEEE, an international publisher of progressive academic research. This edited volume aims to (i) provide comprehensive insights into the applications of Deep Learning for precise and efficient medical image segmentation, (ii) highlight the challenges encountered and approaches utilized by researchers in the field of medical image segmentation, and (iii) provide a comprehensive and in-depth exploration of the domain, covering fundamental concepts, advanced techniques, challenges, and recent state-of-the-art Deep Learning models in medical image segmentation.We are delighted to request that you submit a chapter proposal on any topics listed in the table of contents.At this stage, you may register a 300-word extended abstract summarizing the primary objectives, methods, results, and intended conclusions of your research, along with a working title and author information through https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=dlamis24. Please feel free to forward this to anyone who may be interested in contributing a chapter.
Topics to be Covered:The scope of this edited book includes but is not limited to the following topics:
- Introduction to Medical Image Segmentation (Overview of modalities, Evaluation Metrics, Preprocessing and Data Augmentation Techniques)
- Traditional Approaches for Medical Image Segmentation.
- Fundamentals of Deep Learning Models for Medical Image Segmentation (FCN, UNet, SegNet, Mask-RCNN, PSP-Net, Attention based Networks, multiscale models, RNNs)
- Analysis of Deep Learning Models for Medical Image Segmentation
- Deep Learning techniques addressing anatomies of the head (skull stripping, brain and tumor segmentation, Retinal Vessel Segmentation, Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF), Brain Ventricles Segmentation, Inner Ear Segmentation)
- Deep Learning techniques addressing anatomies of thoracic organs (lung field and nodule segmentation, breast, heart, and ribs segmentation)
- Deep Learning techniques addressing anatomies of abdominal organs (kidney and kidney tumor, liver and liver tumor, spleen, polyps, prostrate segmentation)
- Deep Learning techniques addressing cell or tissues. segmentation (cell nuclei, tumor cells)
- Deep Learning techniques addressing skin lesions in Dermoscopy images
- Deep Learning techniques addressing multi-organ Segmentation
- Advanced Architectures for Medical Image Segmentation (Transformer based models, Generative Adversarial Network based models, Fusion models)
- Challenges and Future directions for segmentation of medical images using Deep Learning models (Limited annotated data, Complex anatomy, variability, Imbalanced class distribution, Transferability and Generalization, Deployment of segmentation models)
Submission Guidelines:
