The motivation behind the book titled "Digital Cultural Heritage: Challenges, Solutions, and Future Directions," which is to be published by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, is to provide an in-depth exploration of state-of-the-art initiatives, challenges, strategies, and issues involved in developing a digital heritage and cultural ecosystem within the broader context of the emerging digital culture. This book will be part of the Innovations in Multimedia, Virtual Reality, and Augmentation book series.
The book delves into the technical aspects of digitalization techniques, digital preservation strategies, and the utilization of advanced technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality within the context of cultural heritage. By addressing these topics, the book will contribute to the understanding of the transformative role digital technologies play in the field of cultural heritage and serve as a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts interested in the intersection of technology and cultural preservation. The book will bring together expert perspectives and updates on four broad areas, namely:
(a) Smart Cities and Digital Heritage: Exploring the intersection of digital technologies, smart cities, and the preservation and presentation of cultural heritage.
(b) Heritage and Education: Examining the role of digital technologies in enhancing educational experiences related to cultural heritage, including digital tools for learning, interactive platforms, and virtual field trips.
(c) Culture and Society: Investigating the impact of digital culture on society, including topics such as digital inclusion, digital rights, social media, and community engagement in cultural heritage.
(d) Digital Documentation and Preservation: Addressing the technical aspects of digital documentation, preservation, and conservation practices, including digital archiving, metadata standards, digitization techniques, and long-term preservation strategies.
Submission Guidelines
Authors are invited to submit their full chapter by October 05, 2023.
Note: There are no submission or acceptance fees for manuscripts submitted to this book publication. All manuscripts are accepted based on a double-blind peer-review editorial process.
Chapters
- An abstract has been provided for each chapter
- Each author has provided an ORCID ID (www.orcid.org) and a biography
- A reference style has been used consistently throughout all chapters and all cited references are included in a bibliography/reference list
Figures and Tables
- All figures have been supplied as separate files (tables can remain within the chapter files)
- Halftone (photo) figures are supplied at a minimum width of 1500 pixels
- Line drawings (charts/diagrams) are supplied as editable files in the software in which they were created (i.e. excel), or with a minimum width of 6000 pixels
- Each figure is clearly numbered and labeled consecutively
- Callouts are provided indicating where figures should be inserted
- Where captions are required, captions are supplied within the chapter files
- Confirm each table and figure is essential and necessary to the manuscript
- Confirm that Alt Text is included for each figure
