Continuum robots are rapidly emerging as transformative tools in the field of surgical robotics. Their intrinsic flexibility, high dexterity, and ability to access anatomically constrained environments make them uniquely suited for a wide range of minimally invasive procedures. As surgical demands increase in complexity, the development of fiber-embodied and miniaturized continuum robots has gained significant momentum, offering new possibilities in precision therapy, real-time sensing, and intelligent decision-making.
This workshop invites contributed papers that address recent advances and novel methodologies in the design, modeling, control, fabrication, and clinical translation of continuum robotic systems. We are particularly interested in original research that enhances the capabilities of continuum robots through innovations in sensing, intelligent control, surgical planning, and multi-modal information fusion. Papers exploring theoretical foundations, experimental validations, and translational studies are all welcome.
Submission Guidelines
All papers must be original and not simultaneously submitted to another journal or conference. The following paper categories are welcome:
Contributed papers should be no longer than 2 pages (excluding references) and follow the IEEE conference formatting guidelines. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two members of the Program Committee, which includes the workshop organizers, invited speakers, and domain experts.
Accepted papers will be published on the workshop website, and authors will be invited to present their work in the poster sessions during the workshop. At least 20 high-quality submissions will be selected for poster presentation.
We welcome early-stage research, innovative prototypes, and novel concepts that contribute to the advancement of continuum robots in surgical applications. We look forward to your submissions and to seeing you at IROS 2025!
