Connecting Science and Practice Towards Future Rail-Wheel Interaction
The 11th International Conference on Contact Mechanics and Wear of Rail/Wheel Systems (CM 2018) will be organized by Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), in The Netherlands, September 24-27, 2018. The theme of the conference is Connecting Science and Practice Towards Future Rail-Wheel Interaction.
The ever increasing demands for higher speed, capacity, efficiency and safety of railway systems impose increasing demands on the small contact patch of wheel and rail in terms of bearing capability, reliability and durability. Railways are increasingly demanding better and predictive performance from the train-track systems which are affected by rail-wheel contact. These can only be achieved through an improved understanding of the behaviour and mechanisms of rail-wheel contact by fundamental scientific research and innovative engineering, operation and maintenance.
Submission Guidelines
Submission and selection of papers will be made according to the following procedure:
1. An abstract of approximately 1000 words should be submitted through the CM2018 website.
2. The papers to be presented at the conference will be selected through a review process based on the abstract.
3. A full paper consisting of 6 to 10 pages should be submitted for accepted abstracts through the conference website. Upon acceptance, this paper will be included in the conference preprints. Detailed instructions will be given later.
4. Authors interested in publishing their papers in a Special Issue of an International Journal will find information about the journal on the conference website at a later stage.
The official language of the conference is English. All papers are to be written and presented in English.
Submission dates
Abstract submission open – September 1, 2017
Deadline for abstract submission – December 1, 2017
Notification of abstract acceptance – March 1, 2018
Final paper submission – July 1, 2018
Poster session
There will be a poster exhibition held in conjunction with the conference. After abstract submission a selection will be made by the international committee. Additional information will be communicated later.
