Houston Community College invites professionals with experience in co-requisite education and related fields to submit a proposal to the statewide co-requisite conference, Co-Requisite Courses: The Journey to Success. The conference is an opportunity for Texas higher education faculty and student services professionals to explore practical strategies for increasing student success in the co-requisite model.
Submission Guidelines
All presentations must be original, although they may have previously been accepted at another conference. Presentations should cover areas of interest related to the co-requisite model in higher education and should fit one of the following session types:
- Presentation: Ideas or experiences resulting from research, practice, or policy. Sessions should provide opportunities for audience engagement or participation to stimulate further discussion.
- Workshop: A summary or description of a technique used in practice that has proven to increase student success. Sessions should provide a demonstration that allows for audience participation.
- Panel/Roundtable Discussion: A group discussion of an issue related to the conference theme. Proposals should include a synopsis of the issue covered and a plan for how the panel will be organized. Panelists should be recruited prior to proposal submission.
- Posters: Results of a scholarly or creative project presented in a visually engaging format. Proposals should cover the project presented and a description of the visual display to be used. Presenters will not be required to provide an oral discussion, but should be prepared to leave contact information for any attendees who have questions regarding the presentation. Presenters are responsible for putting up and taking down their displays.
Note that all breakout sessions except for the poster session are 45 minutes long. Presentators have the option to select a full (45 minute) or half (20 minute) session.
