Conference Themes:
We welcome papers related to Spanish language and its speakers in California: linguistics, sociolinguistics and associated fields on any topic and in any approach. The topics include - but are not limited to phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, psycholinguistics, pragmatics, applied linguistics, linguistic variation, languages in contact, language policy and planning, language attitudes and ideologies and heritage languages and pedagogies.
The conference will also include an undergraduate session and a poster session. Abstracts should indicate whether they are being submitted for consideration as a panel, poster or individual presentation.
Presentation format:
Presentation time for individual papers will be 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion. . Proposals for complete panels with 3-4 speakers must fit within the 60 minutes time frame of the conference presentations.
Undergraduate session and poster session will be held concurrently. Undergraduate students are warmly encouraged to submit an abstract showcasing their research in any subfield of Hispanic studies and related disciplines.
Submission Guidelines
- Abstracts must be submitted through Easychair (link below) before February 15th, 2022.
- Authors may submit up to two abstracts, an individual and a joint one.
- Please, limit abstracts to a single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font not to exceed 300 words plus references. References, examples and figures may be interspersed with text and not count as words.
- Papers may be in English, Spanish or any combination of both
- Abstracts need to include the title of the paper and must clearly present a specific thesis statement and include a description of the topic, the approach, and conclusions.
- Abstracts should be anonymized: please do not include your name or affiliation within the abstract. Personal information will be completed through Easychair.
- Include the title of the paper, area of research, author name(s), academic affiliation(s) and e-mail address(es) in the form within the abstract submission system.
- Format: To facilitate the review process, please submit your abstract as a .pdf file.
- Notifications of acceptance/rejection will be sent by March 5th.
