"Online learning" symposium - Bridging Educational Emergency to Digital Pedagogies
September 20-22, 2022, Slovenia, Vipava
Hybrid event
Description
"Online Learning Symposium" will be co-located with Open Education for Better World Eduscope 2022 and is planned to take place on September 20-22, 2022 in Vipava, Slovenia and will be co-organized by the project BRIDGES – “Bridging Educational Emergency to Digital Pedagogies” project (Erasmus+), and the University of Nova Gorica and UNESCO Chair on Open Technologies for Open Educational Resources and Open Learning at Jožef Stefan Institute. The event will be organized in a hybrid format with the possibility to present online via the MiTeam platform.
BRIDGES is an Erasmus + project that supports the transition from Emergency Remote Teaching to Digital Education through evidence-based, open, and innovative practices of teaching and learning. Its ultimate goal is to improve the quality of education, regardless of the existing differences in the educational systems of European countries, thus providing equal opportunities for personal development for all European citizens. This event, is, therefore, also a multiplier event for the project.
An international online mentoring program Open Education for a Better World (OE4BW) has been developed to unlock the potential of open education in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The program provides an innovative approach to building Open Educational Resources, connecting developers of educational materials with experts volunteering as mentors.
Aims and scope
During the 3-day event, the participants will become familiar with open education design processes, methods and tools. They will learn from OER experts and practitioners how to align open education with developmental and strategic goals. Furthermore, OER projects developed through the 2022 OE4BW Mentoring Programme will be presented with short pitches and receive direct feedback in a panel discussion. This event builds on the last three successful OE4BW Eduscopes, held as live conferences in Vipava, Slovenia, and online in 2020 and 2021. The conference aims to share ideas and experiences, create new opportunities for people to network and create together, promote diversity of goals, backgrounds and cultures, and contribute to the implementation of the UNESCO recommendation on open educational resources, while addressing various sustainable development goals.
At the same time, the event will host an Online Learning Symposium: “Bridging Educational Emergency to Digital Pedagogies”, a multiplier event of the BRIDGES project. The project and the event focus on the transition from Emergency Response Teaching to digital pedagogies. The project BRIDGES aims to create research-based faculty development framework and guidelines, a European Digital Hub, collaborative curriculum and content (re-)design, storage, interactive community-based tutorials/training including practical and pedagogical tips.
