Chapter 4: Blockchain Consensus Algorithms
The chapter focuses on discussing consensus algorithms that are being used to establish trust and enforce a common agreement among all peers in a blockchain network. The chapter will explore different objectives associated with consensus algorithms along with their working mechanisms. Applicability based comparison among various existing consensus algorithms shall also be discussed in the later parts of the chapter.
Chapter 5: Blockchain Adoption Journey in Healthcare Industry
The chapter aims to discuss the extent and challenges of blockchain adoption in the healthcare industry. The chapter focuses on ways in which blockchain adoption could ensure process efficiency, cost optimisation and data security for the healthcare sector. We discuss rate of blockchain adoption across healthcare systems of various countries and enlist the roadblocks and facilitators for the same. Moreover, the chapter deals with discussing organisational and patient centric experiences after blockchain adoption.
Chapter 6: Framework for Blockchain in Healthcare
The authors discuss a proposed framework for managing and operating a healthcare system using blockchain technology. The framework aims to present a detailed overview of all the actors in a healthcare ecosystem, their working principles and ways of communication. Moreover, the authors present a comprehensive integration off other technologies like IoT and Machine Learning with the proposed framework.
Chapter 7: Health Record System using Blockchain
The authors discuss growing concerns pertaining to medical data security in an online ecosystem. The chapter explores present day data ownership laws and compliance regulations dealing with administration of medical records. The chapter illustrates the means and methods of creating an interoperable decentralized blockchain enabled health record system. Moreover, the authors illustrate the problem of many in terms of the number of devices being used in a healthcare system and the manageability of the vast variety of data being generated.
Chapter 8: Patient Data Privacy using Blockchain
The chapter explores ways in which blockchain can assist in preventing access and misuse of patient data by third part intermediates. The authors illustrate means of strict and efficient implementation of data privacy laws by the use of smart contracts and consensus algorithms. Identification of data controllers and perspectives on anonymity and pseudonymity are discussed in later parts of the chapter.
