Call for Proposals
Interrupting Injustice: Advising for Equity
Proposal Deadline: January 31, 2019 noon
You are invited to submit a proposal for the BAAC Spring Conference addressing the theme of “Interrupting Injustice: Advising for Equity.” Anyone is welcome to submit a proposal. Share your research, best practices or techniques with your campus colleagues. Some germane sub themes could include: advising practices for reaching/working with students; how to meet students where they are; and how to help students find their niche.
Please remember that any proposal related to “Interrupting Injustice: Advising for Equity” will be given careful consideration for inclusion.
The conference will include multiple concurrent sessions. Each session will be one hour long. Format options include, but are not limited to: (a) paper or topic presentations; (b) panel discussions; (c) roundtable sessions; and (d) poster sessions.
- Paper or topic presentations may be based on research or share best practices. Some are developmental, while others are theoretical. The format may be mostly lecture with a discussion following or a more informal discussion.
- Panel discussions are designed to involve various presenters looking at the same topic from various angles.
- Roundtable sessions are less structured discussions on relevant topics that generate interaction between the audience and presenter.
- Posters will be displayed beginning at the lunch hour and presenters will be available for individual conversations, which will continue through the first part of the afternoon.
Submission Guidelines
Proposals should include:
- Name(s), university affiliation, and job title(s) of presenter(s)
- Email address and phone number of lead presenter
- Presentation title
- Desired format (lecture/discussion, round table discussion, panel discussion, poster session, etc.)
- Outline of how the 50 minutes of the session will be used/divided
- Any audio/visual/technology needs
- Brief abstract (150 word limit) describing your presentation, learning objectives, and other information that will assist reviewers
- Other information that you would like us to know, such as traveling time
Proposals must be submitted online by January 31, 2019 at noon.
