About the Book :
The concept of smart cities and villages has eased as well as improved the quality of human life by keeping its people informed, connected, and engaged. Technology is transforming human lives by playing an important role in the planning, designing, and developing smart cities and villages. This book presents a cross-disciplinary perspective on the concept of smart cities and villages by congregating cutting-edge research and insights from worldwide researchers, academicians, and practitioners. It identifies and discusses various advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Fog computing, Natural Language Processing, Sensors and so on that are vital to foster the development of smart cities and villages by providing effective solutions to the lifestyle challenges faced by humankind. The innovations may include real-time monitoring of the patients with flexible wearable sensors, disease diagnosis with best diagnostic tools, and treatment with nano-robots. The advent of Cloud Computing and IoT in general and Tele-Medicine, in particular, has made it convenient to streamline health records that can be accessed remotely by patients and professionals. For instance, operations can be performed with specialized robots with tiny incisions and great precision so that the technologically assisted surgery causes less bleeding, faster healing, and a reduced risk of infection. The primary concern of this book is to equip the knowledge to beginners as well as for advanced readers related to the field of smart cities and villages. Human behavior, mindset, social and economic challenges would be an integral part of this work. For instance, the use of advanced technologies such as drones with sensors can assist a farmer to remotely monitor the crop and soil for detecting diseases, and nutrition in plants, respectively. Further, to identify the type and amount of herbicides to apply for yielding healthier crops. Additionally, Wifi enabled Rural Schools with Humanoid Robots, Self sufficient small co-operative unions selling goods online from a remote village, etc.
