“Innovation to address Africa’s Challenges”
6–8June2018
Kigali Convention Center, Rwanda
It is a pleasure to invite you to submit your paper to the Africa Innovation Summit 2018. The conference is organized by Ihaba, and will take place at the Kigali Convention Center, Rwanda, on the 6-8 June 2018.
The AIS2 follows the first Africa Innovation Summit (AIS) that took place in Praia, Cabo Verde in February 2014. The first summit counted with over 350 participants from about 30 countries, including the participation of several African Heads of State, ministers, innovators, investors, senior officers of regional and international organizations and entrepreneurs. It was an innovation system in action! The participants unanimously agreed on the need to continue to promote the dialogue and committed to supporting the initiative going forward.
As part of this commitment, the AIS2 is focused on innovation as a tool to address Africa’s pressing challenges, such as poverty, health, productivity, competitiveness, economic diversification, food security, climate change and governance.
We encourage researchers, practitioners and professionals across the region to submit proposals for papers on a topic of their choice relating to the following topics of interest:
Innovation to address sectoral issues: including Water-Energy-Food nexus, Health, Education, etc
Innovation solutions related to transversal issues: including Policy, Financing, Infrastructure Inclusion, Governance, Environmental sustainability, Climate Change, etc
The principles guiding the Summit are:
Call to Action: clear intent to concretely inform policy/ action in the continent.
A Futures-perspective: collectively and creatively thinking ahead about responses to future threats, transitions and possibilities for our continent.
