The A-CSEAR Conference 2018 will foster a supportive and inclusive community of emerging and established scholars investigating research on the social and environmental aspects of accounting theory and practice. It will provide an international forum in which to showcase this work and to continue to foster much needed interdisciplinary research in accounting.
Submission Guidelines
The conference theme for 2018 is ‘EnVisioning Value’. The theme seeks to explore contemporary accounting practices and concepts including measurement, accountability, transparency and governance, in order to reflect on present-day approaches to, and envision future possibilities for, value creation. Rapid technological advancements in the areas of artificial intelligence, automation and global connectivity are transforming the way human populations live, work and interact with one another and the natural environment. Global initiatives such as the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are also demanding more integrated ways of thinking, moving towards holistic systems design and decision-making.
Developments such as these generate various drivers for change surrounding the types of activities for which the accounting profession will be delivering services and serve to challenge conventional approaches to accounting education. We encourage a broad and inclusive interpretation of ‘EnVisioning Value’. This may include topics and themes relating (but not limited) to the visible and invisible, hopes and prospects, barriers and initiators, alternative and emergent accounts, silences and the marginalised.
We invite paper presentations on any aspect of social and environmental accounting using diverse research methodologies. The deadline for paper submissions is 6 August 2018. Notification about the decision will be made by 15 October 2018.
All papers should be submitted via the online submission link of the Conference above. Only full papers will be considered. Submitted papers are subject to blind peer review by two referees.
