WELCOME
... to the 3rd Alterman event at the Politecnico di Milano University, Milano, Italy.
The 2018 Alterman Conference & School is a remarkable opportunity to present the latest original advancement in the fields of Clifford Algebra and Kähler Calculus applied to advanced problem computer modeling and simulation. All of us who will take part in it are fortunate to have the opportunity to meet the mathematical talent that will honor us with their presence. When I started to think about having these events, I could not have imagined in my wildest dreams that members of the top mathematics departments of France, and thus of the world, would lend us some of their reputation with their participation. Also to be noted is that, after starting in Brasov (Romania, 2016) and following with Sofia (2017), Manipal (India) is already preparing the 4th Alterman event for the summer of 2019.
Without E. Cartan's legacy, there would not have been Kaehler metrics/manifolds, Kaehler calculus and quantum mechanics, and Cartan-Kaehler theory of exterior systems (read systems of ordinary and partial differential equations). It must be the reason why those notable mathematicians immediately accepted to lend their support to this event. As a result, the Alterman 2018 meeting has a French flavor. It is unfortunate that the German mathematics community has not yet resonated with the promotion of the Kaehler calculus. Cartan-Kaehler mathematics is the apex of a mathematical tradition that started with Leibnitz and grew, not exclusively but predominantly, in the German 19th century mathematical garden, under gardeners like Gauss, Grasmann, Riemann, F. Klein ... (a dozen names easily follow). And almost all that and much more was put together and generalized by E. Cartan.
Finally, a little bit of physics. Millisecond, defined: the time that took Eric Alterman to lend support to my proposal to honor his parents with these events. Thanks Eric. One day you will have the opportunity to tell us about your father's support of mathematics and science.
Best regards,
Jose G. Vargas, on behalf of the organizers
