Theme:
Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is a discipline concerned with the design, evaluation, and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding these systems. Interactive computer systems include many disciplines such as computer science, cognitive sciences, design technologies, and human engineering. The interaction between interactive computer systems and the user is an important tool in disseminating the idea of “open-ended dialogue from man to man”. It aims to increase the usability of existing information by computers (i.e., how easy it is to learn and use computers). Today, the development of the Internet and smartphone technologies has led to the emergence of different forms of interaction and user interfaces with more data use (e.g. information visualization, social computing). Additionally, the HCI systems entering the design world, starting particularly with the computer-assisted design process, are formal models for user-centric planning methods, architectural usability and user experience in creative workflows. In many ways, HCI is now in the “User Experience (UX)” and it will tend to be the “smart places” of the future. Artificial intelligence, if necessary, will be developed using different design methodologies such as spaces where architectural design will be combined into “intelligent and convertible spaces”. Between HCI and UX design, “convertible spaces” applications are thought to be more design-oriented with artificial intelligence, scientific research, development of users’ experimental conception, and a new direction for understanding future designs.
XII. Computational Design Research in Architecture Symposium will be held in Isparta between 21-23 of June 2018, with the aim of presenting and promoting scientific studies on computational advances in architectural design in Turkey. The hosting of Isparta to this symposium is of great significance in terms of meeting Anatolian universities to the computational design that rapidly advances in the world.
Isparta is a city in western Turkey, widely known as ‘the city of roses’, regarding to its endemic rose species. The city has abundant natural and historical touristic appealities, which consist of the lakes, mountains, caves, waterfalls, and archaeological sites. The center of the city has 241.723 of population, which contains students and university staff in general. Following years after the Suleyman Demirel University was founded in 1992, thousands of young students from different backgrounds have changed the city’s conservative fabric. The university has 19 faculties that offers undergraduate program, one state conservatory, 21 vocational schools, 6 institutes that offer graduate education, and 42 research centers.
We invite all academicians, stakeholders and contributors involved in computational design world with the request of sharing with us their studies regarding to the related themes.
Meet you in ‘the city of roses’,
With respect and greetings,
Organizing committee
