Dr. Sotiris Hji-Avgoustis is a professor and chairperson of the Ball State University Department of Management in the Miller College of Business (AACSB-accredited) overseeing programs in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurial Management, Hospitality and Food Management, and Residential Property Management.  He joined the university in 2013 after a successful academic career at Indiana University – Indianapolis.  His research interests are in the area of city tourism with emphasis on cultural tourism, sports tourism and meetings, incentives, conferences and expositions (MICE).  He has published extensively in national and international journals on these topics and he has been an invited presenter at national and international tourism conferences.  In the areas of service to the global tourism community and the profession, Dr. Hji-Avgoustis has been involved with numerous civic, professional and business groups serving in leadership roles and positions.  His teaching expertise includes the delivery of courses in tourism economics, tourism entrepreneurship and tourism financial accounting and decision making.
