10th Annual Symposium on Global Cancer Research @ The 2022 Consortium of Universities for Global Health Annual Conference
The 10th Annual Symposium on Global Cancer Research will be held virtually March 22, 2022 – March 24, 2022 as a satellite meeting to the 13th Annual Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) Global Health Conference. The Symposium is organized through a collaboration with the US National Cancer Institute Center for Global Health; CUGH; Fundación Instituto Leloir-CONICET, Buenos Aires, Argentina; University Teaching Hospital, Ministry of Health, Lusaka, Republic of Zambia; Partners in Hope Malawi, Lilongwe, Malawi; UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). The objectives of this virtual Symposium are to: (1) provide a venue for the global oncology research community to exchange information to identify potential areas for collaboration; (2) develop strategic priorities for advancing the field of global oncology; and (3) share initiatives that are reducing the burden of cancer in low resource settings.
Submission Guidelines
We are no longer accepting abstract submissions.
Notifications will be sent out in February.

General
- All abstracts must be submitted in English.
- Abstract maximum word count is 300.
- Abstract titles must be 250 characters or less and should not be submitted in all caps.
- Abstracts should not contain figures or tables.
- Abstracts highlighting research or programs conducted in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) must contain at least one author affiliated with an institution from the same LMIC.
- Only one abstract per person as presenting or first author may be submitted. (Note: There is a maximum of three abstracts total per author).
- Abstracts must be submitted online by December 5, 2021 at 11:59pm EST.
Only abstracts that comply with all the above guidelines will be considered for presentation and publication. Authors will receive decisions and more information about the virtual platform and presentations via email February 2022.
There are no registration fees for this Symposium.

Topic Areas
Authors will be asked to select a topic area(s) relevant to their abstract at the time of submission. The six topic areas have been identified from the International Cancer Research Partnership’s (ICRP) Common Scientific Outline (CSO) classification system. For definitions and more information on CSO codes, please visit https://www.icrpartnership.org/cso. The six topic areas include:
- Biology
- Etiology
- Prevention
- Early detection, diagnosis, and prognosis
- Treatment
- Cancer control, survivorship, and outcomes research
Responsibilities of Authors
By submitting an abstract for presentation at the 10th ASGCR, abstract authors agree and/or attest to the following:
Confirmation of Originality. Authors who submit an abstract must confirm that the abstract is original, does not infringe on copyright or proprietary or personal rights of any person, firm, or corporation.
Review Criteria
Abstracts will be reviewed based on the following criteria:
- Public health significance: addresses relevant public health question
- Methodology: methods chosen are appropriate for research, project, or program
- Overall impact: enhances understanding of global cancer burden/aims to improve global cancer control equitably
- Clarity of ideas
Publication
Accepted abstracts will be selected for poster and/or oral presentation and will be published in ASCO’s JCO Global Oncology. Only abstracts that agree and/or attest to the following will be considered for publication:
Confirmation of No Prior Publication/Presentation. Authors who submit an abstract must confirm that they have not previously published these data and that they are not planning to present or publish them prior to the dates of the 2022 ASGCR.
Exception: Encore presentations must contain updated data not previously presented or published.
Important Dates
September 30, 2021 – Online abstract submission opens.
Decemer 5, 2021, 11:59PM U.S. Eastern Standard Time – Online abstract submission deadline.
February 2022– Notification of abstract acceptance/rejection.
